Odd question time: About 9 years ago, I named my cat Gypsy. I was unaware that it was considered a racist slur and just thought it meant traveler. I know it’s almost a decade late, but should I change her name?

Yes, but my response isn’t really as useful as someone who experiences that axis of oppression is.

Also in practical terms, IDK how hard it is to get a cat to respond to a new name as I’ve never changed a cat’s name.  Does she have a nickname she responds to?
