- buy yr coconut oil str8 from trader joe’s (16 oz for $6). likewise, buy shea butter, cocoa butter, or whatever you fancy directly, in bulk! it’s much less expensive than buying products fortified w/ them.
- buy t-shirts from thrift shops & mod them. there are plenty of tutorials online that don’t require a sewing machine (or sometimes sewing at all!)
- sign up for yr fave site’s e-mail lists for gr8 coupons & deals! i’ve saved so much money this way on my favorite sites, like modcloth & sourpuss clothing. you can also crowdsource coupons in the femme secret society group @ facebook.
- keep yr lips smooth & moisturized by making yr own lip scrub & applying carmex generously! the effects are magical & have saved my pout.
- participate in clothing swaps! or start yr own!

- other inexpensive but marvelous makeup brands: NYX cosmetics!
- you can also make yr own lipstick out of crayons!
- self-care doesn’t have to be expensive! you can take care of yrself w/o buying fancy bath bombs or going for a mani or doing retail therapy. here is a list of 50 free & inexpensive self-care ideas i wrote.
- haven’t been able to wash yr hair in a few days & it’s about to start a grease fire? make yr own dry shampoo w/ ingredients found around the house! or just put on a beanie until you have time to shower!
- cold outside? wear leggings under yr pants for extra warmth or double them up if yr wearing a dress.
- use makeup wipes to remove yr makeup; it’s easy, fast, & inexpensive! you can get a pack of 60 at forever 21 for $4.90. they also come in scents like green tea & jasmine, grapefruit & cucumber & lemon.
- use store brand q-tips to touch up makeup mistakes instead of using a whole wipe!
- fix runs in yr stockings with clear nail polish, hairspray, or even jam.

- ALWAYS look online for coupons before buying anything. There is a 90% chance you can at least save a little money
- Alter clothes you already have to create a new look
- Take a walk if you’re feeling down. Often the urge to buy something can be combated with some nature and sunshine 🙂
