I love how so many feminists love to justify being anti-sex work with “how is selling sex feminist?” IDK, how is waiting tables feminist? How is making lattes feminist? How is folding T-shirts feminist? Why is sex work the only job that HAS to be some empowering feminist statement to justify making money that way?
How is breathing feminist?
Everyone who breathes is now no longer a feminist.
breathing serves the patriarchy by catering to men’s desires to have living women available to them.
That’s a reach. Feminism is definitely about choice, and no one should be shamed for their choices. Sex workers should be able to work safely and freely, and they shouldn’t fear being outed, but you can’t deny that sexwork definitely caters to men. By large it caters to them. But I feel as though the fact that women primarily profit from it kind of overshadows that. I can see why some people would argue that sexwork could be antifeminsist but those people are certainly not looking at the bigger picture. Idk. People have a difficult time thinking critically about things. It’s a shame.
Who cares who it caters to when it puts food on the table of millions of women who would have no other options otherwise? Sports caters to men, tech and video games cater to men, but you’re not degrading women who work in those fields.
If your problem with sex work is it catering to men, go hire a sex worker, lady
