Like stars, blogs are born and die every day. And even if you’re across your Jezebel, Feministing, and Feministe, chances are there are a suite of writers and publications out there you’re yet to discover. Here are 10 next-generation feminist blogs, founded in 2012 or later, youshould be adding to your blogroll, Twitter feed, and Facebook pages.
Everyday Feminism: If there is one blog that exemplifies the kind of feminism I’m
passionate about, it is Everyday Feminism. Founded in 2012 by Sandra Kim, this
site is consistently smart, heart-centred, and utterly intersectional, hosting
provocative conversations about everything from race, to body image, to being a
good ally. Check out: Feminism is a Verb: Why the Movement has no use for Fad Feminism.
The UnSlut Project:
Founded by freelance writer and PhD candidate Emily Lindin, the UnSlut Project
shares the stories of girls and women who have experienced slut shaming, exploring
how and why sexual bullying happens. Check
out: Why I used to “slut” shame.
Vagenda: If you
live in the UK, you’ll know these ladies already – their fierce, witty take on women’s media have made them superstars (with all the controversy that
entails) in their home country. If you don’t live in the UK, get on to them
immediately. Check out: The Moment I Realised I’d Never Had Consensual Sex.
Feminist Wednesday: A
feminist storytelling blog and podcast (they’ve featured my book, The Sex Myth) headed up by creative tour de force Erin Bagwell, which aims to turn the most
boring day of the week (that’d be Wednesday) into something uplifting and inspirational.
