If ever there was someone on Tumblr who didn’t deserve the unhinged hate machine to descend on them, it is Xkit Guy, considering everything he has done for all of us, but there are ways to make it up to him!

  1. Donate directly to him. He is one guy in uni doing all of this for free. There are meme posts circulating with thousands of notes; you could transform his life if every one of those people in the notes donated 1 USD, less than a treat at a good chocolaterie. He’s practically responsible for all decency in functionality since David Karp left, so he deserves a chunk of revenue if anything, but that won’t happen, so do the next best thing!
  2. Download his mobile app. Only for iOS though. This is a big one, because not enough people are buying it, it’s a chance to exchange goods for service directly, and it was a new venture that he had to use his own funds for and couldn’t finance without selling it for a one-time fee of $1.99 per download. He took a big risk with this, so this is a chance to really exceed his expectations in response. The mobile app offers photo locking to essentially make your dash Safe For Work until you click and unlock photos, it has post blocking, muting, and blacklisting, and more, and will probably be updated more if he gets more support.
  3. Thirdly, spreading Xkit. For whatever godforsaken reason, he actually considers it a form of support for more of an audience to use his totally free extension suite, and create more people who complain about him. It’s a small thing to do, but he considers it support, so I’m listing it here. Do the above on top of it though.
  4. Another small thing is you can add these badges to your blog. It’s just cool to see people proud of Xkit and spreading his logo, I think. Like a small way to combat all the hate and let him know you’re on his side. Wear it proudly.
  5. And finally, Xkit Guy also considers submitting bug reports to be support. This is complicated because he seems to be taking a break, and his work needs to come second to his health, so it’s unclear if it would still be considered support to be inundated with bug reports from a community that has been so awful to him. I’m listing it because he lists it, but honestly, hold off until he returns. When you do submit, do it very kindly and clinically and comprehensively explain the issue, with your browser, your xkit version, and error code if there is one. Do not give him sass as if he is the deity of all coding stability in the moral universe and personally let you down. Throw in a compliment. And don’t do it now! When he comes back.

Reblogging this again cos I just bought the app for £1.49 and honestly it’s the best decision I’ve ever made in my life

I’ve never actually seen anything claiming Xkit guy is bad… can someone direct me to the receipts?
