I am convinced our ignorance about bra sizing and lingerie fitting is wanted by the mainstream lingerie industry. Those are the companies that directly benefit from the “small size range fits no one” thing we have going on right now. 

Oddly enough, this is an area where bigger women are at an advantage, fashion-wise, since a 34, 36 or 38 band is much much easier to find than a 28.

the bigger bands and d and up are all in beige or black colors though. All the nice bras are c or lower.
