based on the assumption that human blood can survive in a vampire for about the same amount of time it can in a human body, vampires would only need to feed three or four times a year (red blood cells live about 110 days on average). this would be if they completely drained all their victims.
humans can survive losing up to about 40% of their blood, which means that a vampire pushing their limits with each victim would probably need to feed 12 times a year minimum
so like once a month
Hey guess what else happens once a month involving blood
omg no
I wonder whether uterine blood/lining is more or less nutritious than vascular blood. Science side of tumblr?
More. It contains rich tissues. Basically, it has to be capable of sustaining a being that cannot sustain itself AND also providing sustenance to the mother. Thus, uterine lining would be more nutritious.
Why was this not presented as an alternative to True Blood when there was the shortage?
Black market tampon smugglers would have been berzerker!
because the act of actually biting a victim is more or less a sexual thing in most vampire shows and books nowadays and while they do enjoy biting the inner thighs as we see maybe drinking actual period blood is just a bit TOO kinky for those wacky vampires! I can totes see Pam gladly going down on a girl when she’s very heavily on her period (or Queen Sophie) but I can also see the men thoroughly grossed out by it, the modern vampires especially but I’m sure even the older ones held onto some cultural taboos regarding menstruation.
But what about the blood that comes out dark brown or blackish, would that even still be good?
Punk vampires would still eat it.
