anarchists-for-big-government:
Cause like you get paid for fucking, childcare, and domestic work. It’s just a non stigmatized form of sex work. So like these dudes wives are really sex workers in a sense too, so like if we can arrange solidarity between sex workers against dudes that’d be really cool
I mean yeah traditional housewife? You’re basically a full time full service worker with one client, but society doesn’t think of you as a whore so you try to distance yourself from sex workers. Being a sex worker isn’t a bad thing, it’s just a thing.
You can’t be serious. That is not sex work at all, that is so fucking insulting and can you not do this?? You can be in solidarity with sex workers without claiming to be one because you’re a housewife, and “wh*re” is a slur against sex workers so unless you’re a full service sw you shouldn’t be saying it. But god this is incredible. Housewives are sex workers now. Civilians amaze me. 😒
I’m a professional dominatrix and pso, not a civilian and I’ve heard various things re: wh*re, like some full service workers say refusing terms like wh*rephobia is lateral wh*rephobia because we’re distancing ourselves from full services workers.
I’m not and have never been a housewife. I support a househusband actually.
I have to disagree, peacockangel. Wives aren’t necessarily expected to be at the sexual beck-and-call of their husbands. If they are, I’d consider that to be more an issue of rape or domestic violence. A housewife is primarily just an unpaid laborer, who does the cooking and cleaning and childcare. Sex is just kindof part of a romantic relationship, which is what the husband-wife pairing is supposed to be. If the husband expects sex when his wife doesn’t want to, that’s rape, I wouldn’t consider it part of a housewive’s duties or anything to submit like that when she doesn’t want to.
Also why sex work couldn’t exist post-capitalism. Lin lieu of economic coercion, sex work becomes obsolete. Unless, of course, we’re comfortable with the idea of forcing sex workers to have sex with literally whoever as part of their duty to the community.
That isn’t even how sex work works under capitalism. We usually have the option to decline clients, and exercise it. Sex work is somewhat of a misleading term in this particular discourse because post-capitalism just as people will still sometimes need to see therapists (which is a relationship that’s all about the patient and not the therapist’s emotional needs) people will still sometimes want or need a sexual interaction that’s all about them, and you know what? I’m happy to provide that within the terms I am comfortable with. It’s not sexual for me, but it is something I feel good about doing, I like helping people work through their sexual issues, and live out their weird fantasies. Would I see fewer clients? Yes, absolutely, but I would continue to perform this kind of labor, and I’m not the only one. This is something I’m good at doing, I’m good at improvisation, and creativity in this arena. Like I would be really pleased to have my contribution to a future society be continuing to do this, not because I’ll need to, but because like I said, making people happy is nice, I enjoy doing it, it’s a fun mental exercise, I like hearing all the weird kinks people have.
Like I know full service workers who work primarily with people who are severely disabled and have mobility issues, she has expertise in this area, and finds working with them very rewarding. She is a good soul, doing good work for people who would otherwise get very very little physical touch.
Basically, we’re sex specialists, we make wet dreams come true. The point isn’t coercion, the point is you have to acknowledge what we do is a contribution to society. That’s like saying “party planners won’t exist after the revolution because your friends will just do it for you, and no one will be coerced into coordinating a really big really cool party” but like, no there will still be people who like planning giant parties and will offer to help people who aren’t people they know personally plan kickass parties, and people will go to them and ask them, and they’ll be able to say yes or no, just like sex workers will be able to say yes or no
Personally, I’d much rather see a society in which work is defined materially and bourgeois decadence is kept to a minimum. I’m too tired to argue this now because I’m running on three hours of sleep and still have pages and pages to write. All I’m going to say is that post-revolution sex work, like unjustifiably ornate parties, smacks of a bourgeois class attempting to preserve its luxuries at the expense of material laborers. Defining work by market demand is a reactionary, neoliberal ideology.
Do you not understand “post scarcity” as a concept? Like Marx is all about abundance, and you know what? A bunch of workers getting together to have a bigass party, that’s fucking awesome.
I’m not defining work by market demand, I’m defining it by social good and contribution to human happiness, puritanical asceticism is utterly bourgeois, the intellectual life of the mind, sacrifice pleasure shit is for people who have pleasant easy lives.
God, people who get their fucking Protestant asceticism in my fucking Marxism make me fucking tired.
