Sex work predates capitalism & requires no capital. & if you are an indie there is no bourgoise management & ownership hierarchy so it’s actually anti-capitalist & political arguments against it are in fact based in whorephobia.

Setting terms & fees under which you will allow men sexual access to you is the opposite of feeding male entitlement.

Also a flexible, accessible form of work that any woman can do & which can pay well without the need for qualifications is something that affords women & non binary people economic independence from male partners.

It is thus in fact a THREAT to patriarchy which I guess is why the patriarchy stigmatises & criminalises it nearly universally. So feminist arguments against it are really based in whorephobia too. Surprise twist!

I have mixed feelings on this, technically we’re closer to the mostly extinct artisan class if we’re indie, proles if we’re not, but like even indie we end up in many ways technically proletarian because of the services we use and the payment structure they use, so like YES! We predate capitalism but I think this misses why we will exist after it, after money, after material need, we are necessary, no one is entitled to our services, but there will always be people who need a sexual interaction which is focused entirely on them, just as people sometimes need a social interaction which is entirely focused on them, which is why therapists exist.

Yeah I definitely feel like clients pay for convenience & also a few moments of tenderness & being listened to as much as they pay for sex itself. They are paying to have what they like the way they like it, guaranteed, without judgement or fuss, & while being treated kindly, like they matter, like they are special. A lot of people don’t get that in their daily lives, & it is emotional nourishment that we all need.

And I like providing that, it gives me the warm fuzzies
