Colorado had to shut down entire prisons after legalizing marijuana because the drop in prisoners was so drastic.

but like this is the point. please spread this so people understand how silly it is to have marijuana be a criminal offense. so many are in prison for very minor marijuana offenses

This bothers me. I get that unemployment sucks, but that does not matter more than the lives of prisoners. Shut ‘em down. 

I mean that’s been argued as one of the reasons for mass incarceration, it gets politicians votes by building prisons in rural and deindustrialized towns, creating jobs. Divide and conquer. Make one section of the working class have a material interest in the perpetuation of the prison system
