What is it about the gothic lifestyle (aside from the music) that you connect with?

I mean, the music, the clothing resonates with me aesthetically, I like bones, and am comfortable around the macabre.  I like wearing black, I like the gothic novel as a form, I like horror movies and I like the other people.

For me there is something kind in darkness, a warmth and forgiveness in it.  I believe in that forgiving, gentle darkness, forced cheeriness has a cruelty, and demanding quality to it.
