Bitching about Teen Wolf

Warning: This is me complaining about a beloved show, if you don’t want to read it, don’t read this post.  Also spoilers.

There’s a lot of very amusing writing in Teen Wolf, but there are so many issues of unbelievability, teens don’t act like that, like their feelings about their relationships are that epic and this is probably intended for an audience younger than me, but like as an adult what it looks like is *squeaky breaking teenage boy voice* “Golly, Angie, will you go to the prom with me?” played as ULTRA SERIOUS DRAMAZ.  Jackson is an 80s movie bully.  Lydia’s character motivations make about as much sense as a screen door on a submarine.  Scott has all the personality of an unflavored rice cake, his entire characterization seems to be a certain “honorableness” and a tendency to have really weird priorities.  Alison seems to waffle more than experience actual moral conflict which like between your dad wanting to murder your boyfriend and your boyfriend’s friends wanting to murder your dad. Also you feel like people would start to maybe care a little less about lacrosse after viewing a certain number of eviscerations?

Also like I feel like the faction that makes a media statement first (stating their existence and their side of the story) would immediately gain a massive upper hand.  For example werewolves come out and say “These fuckers have been hunting and killing us just for existing with no due process for centuries” or hunters come out and say “Your community is full of these fucking monsters, we can protect you”.

Also how is a “generic California city” that white, I mean you have POC minor characters?  Also how many times has “Murdering you right now would be socially awkward even though I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE/DID” staved off a blood bath, it’s like “oh, you said you have to go grocery shopping, can’t kill you now, even though I have you alone”

Also how is everyone so untraumatized?  Also who risks dying/becoming a murderer to be better at lacrosse or to make new friends?

Also the generically Asian lady (Japanese and Korean) is a Kitsune (haven’t  gotten to that season yet, but I have a strong feeling this will be mishandled).

On the other hand I appreciate it taking the time to pander to the adolescent female gaze (sadly not mine, if they introduce skinny pretty subcultural type with long hair, I’ll be into it), and it is overall fairly entertaining.
