I’ve been asked to post the lyrics to “Debutante.” I wrote it after deciding to ditch all attempts at feminist organizing. It’s primarily about being invited into white feminist spaces, only to be tokenized and used as a human shield when they’re under harsh scrutiny. If you are the token of the group, have no doubt that should a group falter, it will be your friendships, your career, your well-being on the line before theirs. The moral of the story is, don’t give your time and energy to anyone who doesn’t give a fuck about whether you’re tired, cold or hungry. Don’t do it.
This is really good and catchy too
