honestly as soon as one of my favorite anarchist youtubers made a video where he said (paraphrasing) “when the image of anarchism tends to be of violent protest and black bloc, that puts the average person off! instead, we should had have image that is more attuned to what is relevant to the working class now.” i started to finally acknowledge how hopelessly stunted most of the anarchist and libertarian left are, where for the life of them they cannot come up with theoretical or practical innovations that aren’t simple returns to liberalism. i’m no longer attached to anarchism per se even though i love anarchist history and thought. i don’t want to be seen as a comrade to anarcholiberals and the creeping influence of respectability in anarchist thought. if anarchism as a theoretical-political body becomes contaminated, then i’m okay to move on.

As obvious a red flag as racist respectability politics are, why would you, in the first place, have any faith in people that you combine with libertarians in the same breath?  Aren’t those the most ideologically self absorbed, entitled, hateful, destructive group of people this side of neocon nationalists?

libertarianism historically referred to the left before it was co-opted by american rightists, Foamy Mouthy. i’m invoking a history that has nothing to do with neocons at all.

I really wish “objectivists” hadn’t coopted libertarian, they’re such awful pieces of shit and libertarian has such a nice history as a word. 😦
