:^) sounds like someone needs to buy some salt remover.
this is the best example of “i am uncomfortable when we are not about me” i have ever seen
Like ok, male privilege is unquestionably a thing, but like stigmatized manhoods are a thing, where manhood is an inextricable part of how their oppression works. Black men still have male privilege, but also their manhood is linked to how their oppression functions. Same with GNC men and so on. Their manhood is reflected in the way society treats them. Like there is a specific way black men are sexually objectified. There are specific ways GNC men are mistreated.
I don’t think positivity posts directed at boys are necessarily undermining to positivity for girls, but I also think that praising manhood in general is questionable
It’s not questionable. There’s nothing inherently wrong with being masculine. There’s nothing inherently wrong with being feminine.
But that’s literally not the point of the post. The point of the post is to make boys, regardless of what kind of boy, feel good. So………………. yeah.
Where did I say masculinity? I said nothing about masculinity. I said that praising manhood in general is questionable. Manhood is already valorized by society, treating it as if questioning its supremacy is an attempt to *~*~*~*hurt men
*~*~*~* is actually problematic.
That said I think posts like “all girls are cute” are also questionable. Not all girls want to be cute, cuteness also shouldn’t be required for people to be valid, nor is reducing entire genders to mindless positivity posts is actually patronizing and dehumanizing to everyone.
Like the whole “magical fairy dust girls” thing dehumanizes women by expecting them to be inhumanly nice and sweet and good, it’s just “sugar and spice and everything nice” all over again. Women, like men, are human, and capable of cruelty, immense cruelty, as well as immense goodness.
Both of these types of posts reduce people to their gender, and reduce entire genders to a cutesy stereotype.
