a lot of Communist Praxis would be a lot less shitty if it took a page from prison abolition and put harm reduction first, before conversion and before supposed incitements to revolution. marxists and anarchists who place special importance on propaganda often become front loaded. they pursue tactics they believe will change the most minds and hearts, while neglecting the infrastructural challenges facing the working class. this is very common in contemporary communist parties and affinity groups. on the flip side, you have groups that espouse militancy in the interest of dislodging entrenched behaviors, but their tactics of shock and awe mostly exacerbate current stresses and endanger workers. you cannot bomb capitalism. it’s a social relation, not an object. most of these LARPy tactics assume that they if they can find the right cheatcode, they can trigger a revolutionary response. i think a better approach is soberly assessing the needs of workers, immediate and long term, without putting all our eggs in one basket. sometimes propaganda is best for workers. but propaganda is subordinate to us in our effort for revolution – as a tool, it is behest to us, not us to it.
