Don’t yell at black people for copula deletion.
Maths is literally short for Mathematics. The shortening of a word is not the same as Slang that is, “nigga”, “we out here”, “we dindu nuthin’”. Goodbye!
Yeah, but “maths” is incorrect in the states. It’s “math” the shortening of the same word. I’m not even going to type the n-word, but that’s also the shortening of a word/the dropping of the R after a vowel which like you “cah” driving Brits miiiiiiight be familiar with? “We out here” is the dropping of a verb when it’s implied by context and thus unnecessary, it’s considered correct in Russian and Ancient Greek. As for we “dindu nuthin” that’s a phonetic spelling of a double negative which is used as an intensifier in certain dialects. I mean like you people won’t pronounce R after a vowel and if I typed that out it’d look pretty weird too if I spelled it phonetically to be insulting rather than treating your accents as somehow morally superior, but whatever.
Seriously, I fucking dare you to go up to a Scotsman and ask how Robert Burns became national poet using all that “slang”. I fucking dare you.
You said, English. Why bring up Americans if you wanted to target the English? If Maths is correct in the UK, and you are talking about the UK I’m unsure why you don’t grasp the concept of one being acceptable and the other being ghetto. There is a difference between Academic Slang and Cultural Slang. I don’t need to consult with anyone to know that.
One is posh and the other is proletarian. The only reason the posh one is “acceptable” is because of classism, racism, and fucked up bullshit
And I was talking about Americans complaining about AAVE not being USSE while not complaining about UKSE
