We have no obligation to disclose that, if you want it you can pay us. The reason you’re asking is because you either think our work is “gross” even if you won’t admit it, or you want to distance yourself from customers and clients by thinking of them as “freaks” or “gross old men” because you don’t want to think about the fact normal, everyday people buy sex workers services.
This has less than 500 notes and not to be a bitch but whenever sex workers talk about whorephobia, only other sex workers reblog it but when a civilian just says “support sex workers uwu” I’ve seen it get 49k notes.
Like I’m so tired of this. I’m tired of civilian tumblr not listening or caring. “liking” doesn’t do anything or help sex workers at all
i dunno, i think this is generally inappropriate for strangers because sex is a form of intimacy, but i don’t think curiosity about it is necessarily whorephobia. i say this as someone who has done some sex work in the past. humans are naturally curious, and because sex work has been so taboo for so long, i think often times people genuinely want to know what others are paying for. i want to know what people are paying for, partly because i want to know my options for acquiring additional income lol
so, i agree that people who are not otherwise close with you just randomly asking you prying questions about your life is inappropriate, but if a good friend had questions i’d be pretty open about my experiences (just protective of clientele, naturally). i just can’t agree that it’s necessarily whorephobic to want to know.
That’s literally not “whorephobia,” that’s just generalized curiosity.
YOU KNOW HOW MANY PEOPLE ASK ME ABOUT THE CRAZIEST SHIT I’VE SEEN!?
It’s a profession, if you do it, be proud of it.
If you’re not a sw you don’t get a say in what is whorephobia or not oh my god!
Welp, being that it’s something you’re willing to be…
Look, there’s nothing wrong with your profession, people can be huge jerks, and I imagine that the question gets old, but meh, that’s just my opinion.
If you consider that to be normal profession, you need to accept people asking you normal questions.
I work in an office and I get asked these questions.
Paramedics get asked that.
Police officers get asked that.
Do some people have some hidden agenda by asking that when you are sex worker? Probably.
But if you are defending the stand: Sex work is just like any other profession, then you accept being asked the same questions every other professional gets asked and you don’t pull the ‘It’s offensive’ card.
It’s either work like any other, or it isn’t, can’t be both at the same time.
Let’s take a step back here

I’m tired of civilian Tumblr
Civilian
Apparently hookers are in the same category as LEO’s and Armed Forces personnel.
Are we surprised that a person who thinks “I’m so fucking special because I suck dick for money that you can go ahead and put me in the same category as the goddamned Navy SEALS” is gonna complain about “Whorephobia”?
at least we murder fewer civilians.
also civilian can be used to mean anyone who isn’t part of a certain profession in a casual context but w/e
We also call you muggles…
