“Non-sex work jobs are less exploitive because they don’t demand access to your body!”
and I’m like
“Yup all my non-sex worker friends just hang up their bodies before work and go in as disembodied spirits and definitely are not being paid to do what their employer tells them with their bodies”
Why do swerfs think that sexuality is, thematically, the worst thing a woman can experience? They focus on this supposed “access to the body” to the exclusion of everything else, including actual overt violence.
For example, I’ve never heard swerfs say a single thing about women in the military. And yet, the military recruits young women from vulnerable populations using economic coercion (“free college”) and literally pays them to kill or be killed under contractual obligation, and if they try to break that contract, they can face jail time and blacklisting from future employment. Not to mention the sexual harassment and assault that’s rampant in the military, too.
But none of that is as exploitative as sex work because … sexualized “access to the body” isn’t considered to be an inherent aspect of the work people do while serving in the military? Hmmmm
