Like men are able to get away with never expressing of requesting help with their feelings because women are trained from a very young age to observe men, watch for signs of emotional need and environmental stressors and deal with them without being asked. It’s why women worry constantly about emasculating the men in their lives but men never worry about “efeminating” the women in their lives.
Men are “stoic” only because they don’t have to communicate in order to get their emotional needs met.
fuckkk, I’m at a loss right now. because I have a woman at work who always sticks up for me especially when I look upset, but I’ve always characterized myself as someone who never complains so I would never bring up problems to managers or anything. she always somehow knew what was wrong though so she would bring it up and try to have the problems resolved. while I never necessarily wanted her to do these things, I did appreciate it and even benefited from her responding to subtle cues of mine I guess. now I realize that I’m gonna have to tell her to stop because I do not want to benefit from such a unilaterally burdening social norm.
