is just something men don’t feel like doing.
Hell even the “lololol men are all just naturally ugly compared to beeeyoooteeeful laaaaaydees” thing is just men being too fucking lazy to bother with aesthetic labor.
On the one hand I 100% agree that “women are better at X” translates into “men don’t feel like trying to put effort into X.”
On the other hand, “too lazy for aesthetic labor” seems pretty ableist toward people (including me, and also including chronically ill/non-NT men) who have too few spoons/too little executive functioning/too many sensory issues to perform aesthetic labor.
It kind of reminds me of those times abled feminists were mocking MRAs, but only the stereotypically “ugly” ones (fat, unkempt, unfashionable, introverted/socially anxious), bringing ableism and fatphobia into what should just have been an issue of misogyny and male entitlement.
As a disabled person this stuff rubs me the wrong way and I don’t think I’m the only one. I bring it up because I think it’s an ongoing issue to consider.
true. op should’ve said “there’s less pressure for men to make themselves up for the consumption of women”
I really don’t think that implies that. There’s nothing wrong with choosing not to do aesthetic labor or being unable to do aesthetic labor. As a person with executive dysfunction issues of my own, that’s not laziness. Also I think it’s kind of gross to equate laziness with disability. Being too tired, too sick, or generally unable to do a thing is very very very clearly not laziness.
I am simply saying that society’s insistence that women are “naturally” prettier than men is bullshit, and women are just forced to do more work to be aesthetically appealing.
Look at me for example… I am so beautiful … Such a pretty boy
Women have a wider thalamus than men though. It’s a difference in brain structure that makes your average woman a better at multitasking than your average man. That being said, I really don’t want to have to put on make up before going outside.
