I worked with lesbian victims at the prosecutor’s office this summer. And you know what their male perps said? The officers would say, “But you said she was gay?” And the perp would say, “Yeah but she goes both ways.”

THIS is what gay means to them. Just that they “sometimes” date women.

For our safety: “Gay” must mean same-sex only. Or, it is a useless label.

This is a lesbian – and the lesbian victims she has literally dealt with irl – imploring you not to use “gay” as anything other than a “same sex only” label.

If you can’t listen to us when we literally beg you for our safety, that’s some moral bankruptcy on your part.

you are correct that rapists typically do not make a distinction between people who are attracted to the same gender exclusively, and people who are attracted to multiple genders. They do this regardless of whether or not people are attracted to multiple genders, and regardless of what people call themselves.

But that does not mean same gender attracted people should stop calling themselves gay (in fact, it doesn’t even logically follow), that does not mean you should use rape victims as a debate token because that’s messed up, that doesn’t stop you from being a terf, that doesn’t stop me from being gay, and that doesn’t stop hikaru no go from being such a good show.

Also putting the blame on bi people calling themselves gay for people being raped is extremely disturbing.

I may be a troll but at least I’m not a terf and at least I don’t pull emotionally manipulative stunts like that.

I’m amazed anyone could be naive enough to think the labels you put on yourself could ever protect anyone from getting raped. Discourse doesn’t cause rape. Rapists don’t give a fuck about any of this.

Also like… this excuses the rape of bisexual women. Liking a gender does not mean consenting to sex with everyone of that gender.
