Why is effortless chic take so much more effort than regular chic?
bc it’s always harder to hide the effort! You have to go to all the same lengths as full on chic, but then you have to go back and render them subtle and unnoticeable on top of being visible. Like ballet. Sure it’s hard to lift people, but it’s harder to lift ppl gracefully while looking like they not only way nothing but are a joy to touch!
And of course then the labour gets to be discounted bc it’s not visible so it must not be real barf
Also, idk, particularly with makeup, the layers come together to be perfect but look crazy on their own. Like JUST wearing foundation makes you look weird and flat but you fix that with blush/contour/what have you but when you wanna look less glam you gotta get rid of that flatness with less layers.
I think chic is simple and suiting so effortless chic must look like the clothes you’re wearing make you as a whole look good. If there are too much informations to process or if the piece you’re wearing gets more attention than the wearer it appears forced . If you chose pieces fitting you colour-wise that are somehow fitted you will generally be effortlessly chic. It’s more about finding a focal point then building the rest from there.
I don’t know if it’s an French thing but here effortless chic is mostly effortless because people don’t care too much, there isn’t as much people wearing high heels, acrylics, weaves etc but it’s more about buying things which will last and go with everything and make your look as a whole as opposed to the us where looks are about striving for visible perfection on every single point.
What I hear: blah blah I hate working class women they try to hard. Why can’t they buy 500 dollar leather shoes that will last for decades like sensible people?
