you can see the look in her eyes that she is NOT ok with this. this woman is staring at the guy right in the face and doesn’t seem to be going to let her gaze down anytime soon.
She’s a sex worker. Brothers during WWII in France were flourishing. They were getting paid exorbitant amounts of money and even being given art stolen from Jews during this time. After the French targeted brothels and shaved their heads as punishment.
The people pursuing sex workers to punish them (and rape victims… and women who’d been trying not to starve) were often collaborators trying to take attention away from their own behavior.
