…yeah no I don’t think sex work will cease to exist precisely after the revolution. Just as people who build houses for people other than themselves won’t cease to exist. We’re a specialized class of professionals who cater to specific needs. Just as sometimes people need therapy, a relationship focused entirely on their needs, not a reciprocal friendship, sometimes people need a sexual experience focused on their needs, to help them work through shit. It’s a socially useful position.
All of that will obviously remain, but it won’t be tied to economic concerns anymore. Exploitation in the sex industry will no longer be possible.
That’s what I meant by the abolition of sex work. It’s no longer work (in the sense of economic exploitation).
It’s still socially necessary labor, but I mean yeah you can argue the semantics of the meaning of work… and whether work as a whole will be abolished after the rev.
