“Well it doesn’t seem like things are great there, but also like we shouldn’t go bothering them, just leave them be”

Like they don’t have to be valiant defenders of “actually existing socialism” for me to think it’s would be absurdly immoral and blazingly irresponsible to invade them?

Except their “actually existing socialism” survives on small community capitalist markets with goods from China after millions of North Koreans died in the “arduous March” in the 90s under the reign of Kim Jung Il. Not to mention Kim Jung Un is an evil dictator who kills or imprisons three generations of family of anyone who commits a crime there. Which is done by public execution which citizens are required to witness when above the age of 12. He assassinated his brother and fed his uncle alive to starved dogs. North Koreans are slaves to the Kim family. They deserve to see the beauty of the outside world, they deserve to know the truth.

…there’s a reason I put “actually existing socialism” in quotation marks friendo.

They’re still slaves who deserve to be free tho, but I guess that seems immoral to you.

I don’t think invading would achieve that, friendo, people have to rise up themselves, otherwise you just make shit worse. Look at how well Iraq turned out.

Except North Koreans can’t do that because to even travel within their own country they need special government passes for each visit. They keep small areas separate so that if any political uprising happens they can contain it. Before speaking about foreign relations maybe learn about the country you’re talking about.

The Soviet Union had an internal passport system and *somehow* that still managed to end.

Not to mention that the unconscionable loss of life a foreign intervention would cause given the DPRK’s huge amount of artillery pointed at Seoul would make it utterly unforgivable to do such a thing in the grand scheme of things even if it is as bad as you say (and I’m not saying it’s good there)
