While popularly pilloried because of her paymaster, Steinem defended the CIA relationship, saying: “In my experience The Agency was completely different from its image; it was liberal, nonviolent and honorable.”

i mean….. she told on all communists she met. that was kind of the thing to do in the 50s/60s. we were in a goddamned war with them.

bruh, every single prominent Black Feminist/Womanist from Angela Davis to bell hooks to Audre Lorde to Alice Walker was/is a communist(or gen. anti-cap.), the Black Panther Party was filled with communists. MLK as an anti-capitalist (not quite commie as ‘‘Communism’s Challenge to Christianity’’(1952) points out but I digress in “Where Do We Go from Here: Chaos or Community?” he decried America’s ‘‘morbid fear of Communism,’’ arguing that it prevented people from embracing a ‘‘revolutionary spirit and … declaring eternal opposition to poverty, racism, and militarism’’ (page,190)). you may think that’s a big coincidence but when once upon a time capitalism considered you ‘property’ and today continues to exploit your labour and funnel your pple into industrialised prisons and sanction violence against you, you may hate capitalism too.

The BPP was an explicitly anti capitalist (mostly Maoist, but with some other far left types like Ashanti Alston who’s an anarchist) organization and used a lot of imagery inspired by radical portions of the labor movement so yeaaah narcing on commies was narcing on black radicals most of the time
