Whenever My Anti-Capitalist Friends Are Like “But how do we deal with this problem in the sex industry after the revolution?”

I’m always like “How would you treat it in any other industry?”

How do you let sex workers know they don’t have to continue to do sex work after the rev without being condescending? How do you tell toothpaste factory workers?

Do what you’d do for the workers in the toothpaste factory. Same with unsafe working conditions. Same with stigma (like with sanitation workers say).

Class is A Material Difference Based On A Social Relation

To abolish the social relation you must abolish the material difference (E.G. You must abolish private property.) All other axes of oppression are social relations based on some random (often vague) material difference, and the material difference can be left alone (E.G.. You do not need to abolish people having different skintones and hair textures to abolish the social relation of race)

AdBusters is like the most perfect form of capitalism, it’s an utterly ineffectual anti-capitalist strategy slickly packaged with beautiful graphic design, ready made and perfectly designed to alienate the actual working class.

Organizing the supply side is literally the only effective strategy against capitalism. You can’t get rid of it by “voting with your dollar” because talk about bourgeois democracy, you can’t get rid of it by “consuming ethically” because there is no ethical consumption in late capitalism, trying to sell those who are denied even the most basic things on asceticism isn’t going to work ever, and is a shitty thing to do.

Trying to tell people with nothing that they should have less, and telling them that’s leftism is the most effective capitalist propaganda possible.

For Me Leftism Is Hope

Hope that we don’t have to just agree “oh well life is unfair” and never ask why that is or what we can do to fix it.

Hope that we can not only preserve but repair our enviornment with the products of our ingenuity.

Hope that the world does not have to be cruel.

Hope that there is a better way, that this is not the best humankind can do.

For so long I accepted the tired old liberal refrain of “well reform to the fucked up system is the best we can do, this is the best we can do” and accepted the cruelty, the meanness of the world, but we don’t have to accept that.

Humans are marvelous, creative, innovative creatures and yet somehow this nightmare that destroys so many lives is “the best we can do”? Capital does everything it can to deny the possibility of something better, jeers at those who even consider alternatives, and yet somehow we’re supposed to believe, that there’s nothing of interest behind the door they so desperately want to keep locked? It is the church suppressing Galileo’s knowledge for fear of having its authority undermined. They know they are wrong.

It’s Not That I Have Anything Against People Who Patronize Sex Workers

I just intensely dislike capitalists which most of the dudes able to afford this shit at this level are.
