Being reminded that I’m almost certainly going to spend the rest of my life in a society where I have to deal with being on the wrong side of patriarchy on a daily basis is really depressing. It’s just like “Oh right, to a lot of people I’m not really quite a person, thanks for reminding me.”

It’s just so sucky that guys who were like
My fucking counterculture heroes growing up, guys who I wanted to be like, guys whose art and lives I found inspirational as fuck don’t even think of me as human because of my gender.
It doesn’t upset me cause their work is bad, it upsets me because it can speak to me so deeply and mean so much to me and them the creator doesn’t even think I’m a person, and like they make stuff about these men that are SO cool and SO human and everything I want to be and then their women are like receptacles for angst and sexual fantasies and nothing else and it just sucks because I DO see myself in them, because they DO write characters I relate to, because they DO write stories that mean shit to me.
Like that’s why a lot of 90s comics stuff gets to me, because it does mean something to me, it does speak to me and then it’s like “Yeah but it’s not for you, fuck you”
Like also it’s so shitty seeing dudes who you’re like “hell yeah”
About their political ideas until you get to their treatment of women… like how can you be so radical and not get it?
It’s like they don’t feel liberated if they can’t keep women oppressed
I see a lot of women who choose not to have kids
Saying “oh I have no maternal instincts”
Which besides being a thing men never have to say to defend their choice, implies that the idea that women must and should be the primary caretakers for children is so deeply ingrained that women who are not suited to that role are not allowed to have kids even if they might want them.
I don’t think it’s helpful to tell men “you fundamentally cannot understand what women experience, you can get closer but you’ll never actually understand”
Cause like it gives them an excuse not to even try and reenforces the idea that men and women are like fundamentally profoundly different from each other
Ever Notice How Men Are Like
Man: It’s so stupid that feminists claim to feel threatened by men, I can’t imagine what they have to be scared o– ooh wait a second my teenage daughter is within 10 feet of a boy.
Man: *shrieking, brandishing bludgeon* YOU STAY AWAY FROM MY BABY!
If you think it’s a win for feminism when a cis woman does it
But evidence of manhood when a trans woman does it, yr a transmisogynist
7 Beauty Products that Make Me Feel Like a Better Feminist
This is the worst thing I’ve ever read and to compound the issue she’s into Andrea Dworkin.
Also I think this may be the straw that broke the camel’s back with me and the term feminist. Like the word already is a problem for me in a lot of ways, considering educational background is the largest factor in determining whether a woman self-identifies as a feminist and working class women often feel alienated by the term and I just feel like instead of attempting to redefine terms that already exist and create confusion and make it so you have to go through the effort of getting people to not think of the original meaning of the term when you say it is kinda “eh” when you can just come up with a new term.
I Find It Annoying That We Default To “Sire” for The Vampire Who Made Someone A Vampire
Regardless of gender. Like we tend to default to the masculine and use that as the gender neutral and that sucks, like calling everybody “sir” in 90s Star Trek.
Why can’t we ever use the feminine as the gender neutral default.
Fuckit, I say from now on we call them dams instead.
Regardless Of Your Gender
If you talk over women and NB people but don’t interrupt men, you’re fucking up.
