re: the whole “divine goddess” thing also, often people who believe in that “matriarchal age” BS can be anti-semitic as shit (as in, “the world was a beautiful matriarchal paradise until the Jews came along and ruined it with monotheism” despite no such evidence of that society ever existing anywhere). it’s just general garbage.

Yes, yes it fucking is!  I hate HATE HATE HATE HATE that shit (and it’s SO ahistorical)

Yes I fully agree – I hope if I produce offspring at some point I’ll have that kind of network I was so lucky to have access to. It’s so rare to find ones that are secular, robust, active and resourced.

I know, it’s incredibly hard, but on the other hand this city’s public schools are crap and filled with black mold (which means that the students get respiratory problems so like coming up with alternatives is important I think

I also have this question about educating future spawn… Homeschooling is not practical for every person but I can speak to experience that if you have a good secular network around it can actually be very successful. I was homeschooled as are my sisters and I never lacked for friends / classes and now they don’t either. It really depends on where you are but we were lucky to have a large secular network where I live.

I was homeschooled too, and yeah I’m just worried we wouldn’t, also it kinda left me unable to deal with being under unreasonable authority and busy work (which is in some ways a good thing, in other ways bad).  Hopefully we’ll be able to set up something like that, I have friends who want to be educators, and I want to make sure their education features movement building and working class praxis so I think maybe setting up something so it’s avaliable to other families with less ability to commit to the time (I’m very lucky to have an open and flexible schedule) involved and so on.
