i hear a lot about period cycles becoming in sync when women spend a lot of time together, but do they just average out or is there one cycle that’s just like the alpha cycle and makes the other one conform

I would actually like to know the answer to this

As a bio major and female I can confirm: there’s one alpha cycle that others conform to. The female with the most estrogen is typically the ‘alpha female’ and the cycle that’s followed by others. I’ve had friends go ‘wow this is so weird my period came like a week early’ and I’ve been like ‘lmao sorry my b’

I wonder what happens when the female with the most estrogen is a trans woman without an internal reproductive system?

As a female who is trans I can offer, as anecdotal evidence, this one time that I lived with a cis partner for around six months and her normally erratic cycle stabilized and became more regular and less intense. I was just taking bio-identical estradiol and T blockers at the time.

That’s really interesting and kind of makes a lot of sense to me? Unless we’re cycling progesterone, most of us maintain the same dosages throughout the month and so wouldn’t have the ebb and flow of hormones that an AFAB person would, so it makes sense that a person with an erratic cycle would find themselves a lot more consistent when sharing space with us for extended periods. Thanks for sharing, Minerva.

I’ve lived with a trans lady and I can confirm that when she forgot to take her hormones for a few days my cycle would get really wacky, also once with a cis partner she changed birth control (she was on it for other stuff) I had my period for two weeks in a row.
